Helping Staff Facilitate Parent-Child Connections

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

When working with infants, toddlers, and their families, programs strive to promote positive interactions and relationships between parents and their young children. Home Visits and Group Socializations offer rich opportunities for staff to facilitate and encourage these vital connections. It is important that staff be ready and able to make the most of these opportunities. This session will begin with a look at the key elements of mutually satisfying parent-child interactions and frequently used facilitation approaches. Then the focus will shift to looking at ways to help staff cultivate their skills as facilitators of parent-child relationships. Successful strategies used in Early Head Start programs across Region X will be shared.

At the end of this session participants will be able to:
  • Understand the key elements of mutually satisfying parent-child interactions.
  • Know new ways to build staff capacity in facilitating parent-child interactions.
