This session will provide providers with a understanding of how to encourage and support families to be active participants in policy, how having families who are active in policy helps strengthen programs and classrooms and finally, a understanding of the roles families can serve in policy and advisory councils within Oregon.
At the end of this session:
- Participants will have an understanding of how to support parents involvement in policy through learning about the roles and tips for serving as a member of a decision making group, the process involved in decision making groups.
- Participants will examine Oregon’s systems and decision making groups to help support families with building skills on getting started in decision making groups, important polices to understand that are specific to Oregon, and knowing, reading and understanding data to support their participation in the decision making groups.
